Questions before you leave your address
Who answers the questions, the person leaving or the manager?
The person leaving. They hold what nobody wrote down, and they are the one who disappears. The manager gets the document at the end and can ask for a second pass on anything thin.
How long does it take them?
Three sessions of about twenty minutes, spread across their notice period. Short enough to do between meetings, and spread out because people remember different things on different days.
What if they refuse to take part?
Then there is nothing to hand over and no tool fixes that. A handover written without the person leaving is a guess with a nice layout. This works when the exit is a normal one.
What does the document actually contain?
Systems and where they live, contacts and who replies to whom, work in progress with its state, the decisions behind the way things are done, and an honest list of what is still open.
Is it a template we fill in?
No. The template is the reason handovers never get written: a blank page on a Friday afternoon. Here the questions come one at a time and the document is the output, not the input.
Who can read it afterwards?
Whoever you decide. The default is the manager and the person taking over. The leaver can review the document before it is shared.
What happens to the answers?
They stay in your account and are used to write your document, nothing else. When the product exists there will be a proper page about this, and you will get it in writing before you use it.
What will it cost?
Not decided. It will be priced per handover, not per seat, because you do not do this every month. If you leave your email you will hear the number before anyone else.
